Shawl, Interrupted

Maybe it's more like "abbreviated." The fact is, I ran out of time, so I officially declared it done. The pattern called for many more repeats of the feather and fan border. But all-in-all, I think it works this way since the recipient barely tops five feet. I would love to try to photograph it in some natural light, but it probably won't be dry until after dark, and then it has to be on a 6:30 am flight outta here tomorrow.
I think this project has slaked my thirst for lace, at least for a little while. This is one of the simplest lace patterns around and it still gave me headaches. I'm counting on the recipient being sufficiently impressed with the effort that she will not notice the errors that began cropping up on the last few rows. I believe the Harlot recently referred to knitting a top-down shawl as a "soul crushing" experience. I know exactly what she means.
The details: Feather and Fan Triangle Shawl from Folk Shawls by Cheryl Oberle. Changes I made: Only did 5 rows in the "tails" section and only did 19 rows of the chart. Finished size is approximately 35 inches long at the point and 84 inches wide. Yarn is Zitron Incanto from Skacel (cotton, acrylic, linen, and rayon).

It's beautiful! No one will ever know it's "abbreviated"...she will definitely be impressed.
I know what you mean about lace...I've only knit a lace scarf and had many moments where I just wanted to cut it to shreds. Only it was handspun yarn.
Beautiful!
I really think that looks great. Well done! You definitely did the right thing to finish it early with the recipient being on the short side. Gorgeous.
Your shawl is gorgeous! Where'd you live in upstate NY? I used to date someone from Germantown!
